USDR (Uniformed Services Disabled Retirees)

A Personal Request

Dear USDR Action Alert Participants --Your ever increasing participation says I must be doing something right in composing the alerts.  Since November, the list has grown by almost 200 subscribers.  We ended 2005 with a total of 63,104 messages being processed.  In November-December, you processed 35,000 messages through the USDR.

In the 6 alerts published since 12 January, you have processed 19,380 messages as of noon 20 January.  About 1% of these go to local media, 5%-10% go to POTUS, VP, Sec Def and Sec VA, the rest go to Congress. Also this continuing increase keeps pushing back the "burn out" horizon. My efforts are pro bono, as are all the USDR leadership positions, but the Capwiz alert feature is not.

Capwiz costs $4000/year. We have 2300 subscribers on primary distribution and untold many on secondary distribution via the web and many discussion lists. My guess is that if everybody who reads this message, sends $1 to the following address USDR will be able to pay the Capwiz costs for another year.

Of course you will be more generous because not everybody will send that $1. You can mail to

USDR Membership Services,
ATTN: Executive Secretary,
PO Box 1121,
St. Cloud, MN 56302-1121,
or you can follow http://usdr.org/  then click on "contribute" (about the 4th flag down on the left hand side) and fill in the blanks to do it via email.

Thank you for your participation and interest in the USDR Legislative Alerts.  But without operating funds to pay the rent on Capwiz ...

Charlie Revie,
USDR Legislative Affairs
