Floyd mentions becoming a part in the fight or get torn apart by DOD. Here's another one of DOD's/Administrations attempt to tear us apart. (See excerpt from PR Newswire release below.
The Senate Bill covering this is the Postal Reform Bill S-662) It's bad enough to bend the truth to get the American public to believe that military retirees are costing too much, but when you hit that same public with a huge postage stamp increase "to pay for military retiree obligations" we are going to be in deep, deep trouble.
If as indicated the Postal Service is the first to be required to pay the military retiree obligations of their employees, the Administration must be planning on forcing more federal agencies to do the same. Then pity the military retiree who wants to work for the government after military retirement - no government agency is going to want him/her with the added cost of his military retirement obligations.
All of this is just further proof that when you enter retirement DOD wants absolutely nothing to do with you.
For those who haven't joined in the fight to correct the injustices imposed on military retirees, their families and survivors, it's your hard earned benefits this administration is after - and if you won't fight back, they are going to get them and you deserve to lose them.
WASHINGTON, Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ --
A senior U.S. Postal Service official warned today that passage of pending postal reform legislation, when coupled with the Bush Administration demands on military retirement costs, could increase stamp prices by as much as 20 percent in the near future.
The bill scheduled for Senate action would require the Postal Service to
become the first federal agency to pre-fund its retirees' health benefits while
the Bush Administration is insisting that the agency absorb the military
retirement obligations of its employees, also a first for the federal
government.
"Under current law, the Postal Service has managed to keep the cost of
postage below the rate of inflation," said Tom Day, Senior Vice President for
Government Relations. "But this bill not only strips the Postal Service of much
of its management authority but almost guarantees a hefty rate increase."
