I would not advise anyone to vote along a Party Line unless they can vote for a Veterans Party Candidate however, I will consider voting for the Person who bests shows their concerns of this Nation, our Constitution, and the removal of all Politicians who are selling us out for greed.  Returning the Government to the People must be our Primary Goal.

Change your Party Affiliation to Veterans Party, or if not yet Certified in your State, to Independent, and show the Parties that have sold us out that you mean it when you say REFORM or RETIRE from Government Service.

If the Veterans Party isn't running any candidates in this next election cycle I recommend we give the DemocRats a two year shot at running the House.

They can't damage our plight any worse, in two years, than the Republicans have, and I really blame party hacks, speakers Frist and Hastert, for not having the fortitude to call the bluff of co-sponsors from both parties.

While I agree that the Repubs has been and still a disappointment. to say  the least on our issues, let me add disgusting, before we get in a knee jerking contest, we need to take a hard look at the possible ramifications of such  an action.

Will HR602 and S407 have a better change of passage under the Dems.  If so why haven't we heard demands for the bills to be brought to the floors by  the dems for an up or down vote. We all  know that any bill can  be brought to the

floor of either chamber, if the ones advocating it is vocal  enough.

Here are some of the repercussion if Dems take over:

John Conyers who is obsessed with impeaching the president will be  in charge of the Judiciary committee. No time for anything else.

The ways and means committee will be run by a pro Castro  worshiper who

states that to lower taxes is "Racism"

Antimilitary and aid and comfort givers to the enemy such  as:

Dick Durbin D Ill, who compared our troops to, Pol Pot, Hilter and  Russian

Gulag keepers.

Sen. John Kerry who accused our troops of terrorizing women and  children in

the middle of the night in IRAQ. In other words the American is the  real

terrorist.

Howard Dean Head of DMC, "a war we cannot win"

John Murtha, cut and run, because our troops are worn out and  cannot

effectively fight the terrorist. Nancy Pelosi agrees with  Murtha.

This is just a sample of those in that party who want to give up as  they did

in Korea, Vietnam, Iran and now Iraq.

Its true, neither party has shown that they are serious about our  issues and

the Repub. appear to be more remiss and indeed have a shallow  backbone on

many issues. However, they have not advocated the surrender  approach that the Dems are doing.

So the question we should ask ourselves, Which of the parties can  be trusted

with the security of this Nation? The choice is clear and we cannot  not

afford to leave it to chance. The stakes are to high!

I do not think that we have much of a choice.  Lets face it, no one party is

really any better than the other and an Independent doesn't have a chance

with out the support of Congress and the House.  The Republicans have had

the rains for the last 6 years and look at us now.  Can we say we are any

better than we were 6 years ago, I think not.

In ether case we can not let down our letter righting and faxes to the House and Congress to try and get these people to remember their promises.  It might not do any real good, but I am not ready to quit now by any means.

Following is a letter which Ret'd Army MG Vern Lewis, asked to pass on.  I think he has a great idea, and if you agree, hope you will pass it on to your retired mil contacts.

I gathered some 16 of my old military friends who agreed to sponsor a movement for Veterans to salute rather than place their hands over their heart when honoring the flag, fallen comrades, and/or the country.  I have some from each of the four principal services.  Three of them were former Vice Chiefs or Assistant Commandants of their services, and several were former CINC's.

We refer to saluting when we do the pledge to the flag, when the National Colors pass or are presented, when the National Anthem or honors are played, or when taps are played and firing squads or guns render honors.

We got MOAA magazine to ask veterans what they preferred, hand over the heart or saluting.  When last I looked, some 583 veteran respondents had voted 81% in favor of the salute. In addition, my email address was in the questionairre and I've had about 150 responses, with all but a dozen or so in favor of the salute. Obviously an overwhelming majority of the veterans want to salute.

There are no regulations telling us veterans what we can and can't do in this matter. If we decide we want to salute, who will dare to tell us "no"?

It is a matter of personal choice. We've earned the right to render a salute. Now the challange is to get the word out. I believe the unit and branch associations are the best way. The commanders of the American Legion and VFW never answered my emails, presuming they even got them. If we can get this started it will take on a life of its own. Those who object can continue the hand over the heart thing. Gradually the custom will change, as well it should.

Just imagine thousands of fans salutiing at NFL, MBA, and Major League Baseball games when the National Anthem is plalyed. It will telegraph a message to all others of how many have served this country in the Armed Forces---it will be a positive and patroitic message.

You can help by putting the word out in your organizations, which are made up of patriots like you and me. Thanks, my friend.

It sounds good to me, BUT, before we went that route, I'd like to  suggest

that these veterans (and active military) LEARN HOW TO PROPERLY SALUTE  !!!!!!

Some of the salutes I've seen are an embarrassment to  D.I.s, the armed

services, the flag, our country, and the one doing the  saluting...   The wrists

look something like a letter "C"...   It's especially nauseous to see the

"salutes" being rendered by the "actors" on  the telly and in the movies...   I

remember when they used  to have "military advisers" who made sure that things were  "authentic"...   Today's saluting is PATHETIC...

One man's opinion...

Subject: Suggested Letter to Congress by David Estrovitz

Below is a letter David Estrovitz is sending to his Congressional delegation.......he invites us all to use it, modify to fit your own thoughts.....but, please take some sort of action. For your information, members of the Ways and Means committee follow David's suggested letter...you can click on any name to get contact information...without some committee action there is little hope for HR 602......

Harry Riley, COL, USA, Ret

Dear Representative,

If you have not added your name to the list of co-sponsors of HR-602 the "Keep Our Promise To America's Military Retirees Act", now is the time for action...if you have, thank you for support.

This Bill is bottled in four House Committees - Armed Services, Government Reform, Ways and Means, and Energy and Commerce - please encourage your colleagues on these committees, especially Ways and Means Committee to take action.

The co-sponsor list now contains 241 names, more than enough support by a majority of the U.S House, but the Bill has yet to be brought to the floor for a vote. As the time draws near for final adjournment of this 109th Congress, it appears as though HR-602 will suffer the same fate as HR-3474, also with majority support, when it failed to make it to the floor during the preceding 108th Congress.

For better than a decade now we have been appealing for our Government to honor the commitment it made to those who served their country. Now is the time for you and all those who co-sponsored HR-602 to "Fish or Cut Bait". Either you muster the courage to pressure the House leadership for the action required for a floor vote, or you can remain silent and allow HR-602 to die along with all previous attempts to rectify what is essentially a breach of contract on the part of our Government.

It has been written that Henry Kissinger once said, "Military men are just dumb, stupid animals to be used in foreign policy". While not an accurate or honorable description of our warriors, he at least had the courage to express his true feelings.

What say you Mr. and Ms. Representative?

Dug out some of my Waco Billboard post cards and sent to Hastert and Boehner as leaders of the House to get the Bill up for a vote. Also sent copies to the only Rep Congressman in S Texas, Henry Bonilla and to Dem minority leader Pelosi.

Nice things about postcards is that many of those handling them will also read them and they will make it through without getting virus screening before delivery.

There is only one way to prevent what has happened to the failure of our Government to Represent the People and that is for the People to stop permitting them to do so.  There is a plan, one that will bring back the Checks and Balances our Constitution calls for, and that plan is to create a third major political Party of the People, for the People, and by the People.  Log on to www.veteranspartyofamerica.com  and learn about it.  Talking about ways to ask Congress to do their jobs is one thing, but how many years have we been doing it with no success?
