We need to encourage action from everyone if there is to be any hope left.
Time is of the essence. Use the letter below as you own if you wish.
Dear Congressman Hastert,
According to an Associated Press report, in early October of 2005, you
received outpatient care at the Bethesda Naval Hospital. Evidently, whatever
necessitated that visit, has been favorably resolved. Without question, the
care you received was earned as part of your compensation for your service
to our country.
There was another compensation package offered to the members of our Armed
Services during the WWII and Korean Conflict years. That package included
the Promise, to those who would agree to serve on Active Duty for at least
twenty (20) years, of earned Lifetime Healthcare for them, their spouses,
and widows. Confirmation of that promise has long since been established
but is yet to be fulfilled.
HR-602 the "Keep Our Promise To America's Military Retirees Act" calls for
our Government to make good on that promise and has been cosponsored by a
majority (241) of the members of the House. It now sits in limbo awaiting
leadership call to bring it to the floor for a vote. This is not a "choose
up sides" political issue. It is however a matter of upholding the Honor
and Integrity of the Government we so proudly serve. This promise is no
less valid than the provision for the medical attention you expected and
received.
Do the right thing Sir. GET HR-602 TO THE FLOOR OF THE HOUSE FOR A VOTE.
DO IT NOW.
