Dave:

As you can see I've been sitting on your e-mail in my in-box for quite awhile. I think your suggestionis a great idea. I don't care who a person is or how big they are they always welcome a THANK YOU for a job well done. Since I do not have aFAX machine... I've echoed your message using the "Write Your Representative" Web Form at "http://www.house.gov/writerep/ " using 30907 0331 as a ZIP code. I'd recommend that other military retirees say thank you to Congressman Charlie Norwood.

PS: I moved the message you had attached to the body of this e-mail (at the bottom).

Floyd

Floyd, I just checked my email andsee the GOOD news about HR 4078. I guess that gives us a little time to work on getting more done.

One small battle in a big war, huh!

The actual purpose of my note is this... It would seem to me that Congressmen Norwood and Whitfield both deserve a LOT of thanks from us retirees.

Sure... they were doing what they should be doing... but there certainly are not enough of them in Congress today, Right?

So I am suggesting that All of us should send them a LETTER or a FAX or simply pick up the phone and call their offices and ask the person who answers to take down our name and state of residence as we say THANK YOU for doing the "Right Thing" for the retired military AND active duty folks... where TRICARE is concerned.

I have already done that!

And I'll make an entry in the online form to note that. I've attached my "thank you" letter and below you'll find the mailing, FAX-ing and calling information for both of these gentlemen.

I'd also suggest that each of us should look at the congressional record to see how OUR elected officials voted on this bill and either praise or scold them accordingly!

In person if possible, would be my recommended method but again mail, FAX or phone if necessary.

We've made a HABIT of asking for something... now we need to say Thank You when we get something (in my opinion).

Dear Sir,

As a Military Retiree, I wanted to let you know personally that weretirees, no matter what state or district we're from, appreciate whatyou have done for us!

We all served for 20 or more years with the continual promise of FREE lifetime medical care, held out in front of us like a "carrot on astick" to keep us in the military even with the horribly low pay and often worse conditions.

Then, to find out that our Government had LIED to us and they BROKE that promise? Well, sir, that was awful. None of us, no, not one of us had planned financially for that to EVER happen.

Enough of US found enough of YOU to finally put together TRICARE. That did not equal what was promised but it was certainly better than NOTHING which seems to be what many in Government would want militaryretirees to have.

Then, we got new civilian management at DoD (with no actual Military experience) and they suddenly want to balance their budget at our expense (blaming their lack of funds on the cost of our [Retired Military] health care).

It's MEN like you, who have the GUTS to stand up to the "administration" and say ENOUGH. There are not enough MEN in Congress these days with GUTS! My personal opinion is that there are a lot of folks up there looking for the "what's in it for me" and they care VERY LITTLE about their constituents. And even less about the military especially since today, almost NONE of them have served!

Again, Thank You for HR 4078 and what it means to all of us who depend on being able to continue using TRICARE for our medical care.

Respectfully,

David L Perkins,
