That is the most lame reply I have heard in quite a long time.   First I do not need Mrs Boxer to find me "affordable" health care.....I know how to inquire and select from Insurance Companies as well as the next person.   Secondly, I "earned", am "entitled", and was "promised" cost free health care at ANY and ALL Military Medical Facilities for my service of more than 20 years active duty ( 26+ in my case).

This was taken away by our Congress and ALL of them are to blame ( both sides).  Even if they were not directly involved in the process, they are to blame by the mere fact that they have done nothing to "right the wrong" that has been done to the very men and women who have served, sacrificed and died to insure the freedoms that everyone in this country enjoys.

I personally do not care to hear any excuse about which government pocket it can come from and which ones it cannot come from....it is ALL our taxpayer money, and it only takes  the stroke of a pen to make it right.  If this was about the health care of members of Congress they could have it all solved and funded before their morning coffee break tomorrow.

Neither do I care to hear the lame excuse of the 1956 legislation that made no sense to start with, and did not change a damn thing for the next forty years (retirees continued to be provided care and Congress continued to fund it), and Congress continued to instruct military Commanders to make us that promise during career counseling.

Additionally, if the change of "may" to "shall" was intended to be significant, it must have meant that Congress felt that only those who entered the military before the legislation change were deserving, and for some reason, those who came in after it were not deserving????   I was never promised that I would be offered  a program that many health providers and facilities would not honor in the first place, and even that would not be provided until I reached 65 years old (which I am now) and ONLY then IF I paid for part "b", which is now $87.50 a month or  $1050, a year,
(that is $2100. a year for a husband and wife) even if they do not see a health care provider all year.

Meanwhile the government seems to find no difficulty finding the money to fund and pay for free medical and dental care (including prescription costs) to ALL criminals in ALL prisons across the country, along with the same for all "ILLEGAL" aliens ( I capitalized the word "ILLEGAL" because it seems that most politicians do not seem to be able to comprehend and absorb what the word "ILLEGAL" means).  They apparently consider it appropriate to provide everything for those who break the law, and have no problem taking away the "EARNED' entitlement" of those who serve and protect this country.

If anyone wishes to debate my assertions, do not waste my time, for I consider anyone who doesn't agree with this to be a "brown-nosing, yes-man (or woman).  If you agree, then pass it to as many others as you see fit (particularly politicians).

Sincerely, George A. White Capt USAF-Ret. Medical Officer Dothan, Al.

As you may know, Tricare officials recently announced their plans to raise fees and deductibles to the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Although legislation to raise Tricare fees has not yet been introduced in Congress, please be assured that if such a proposal is introduced in the Senate, I will work to ensure that veterans and their families continue to have access to quality, affordable health care.
