Subject: [MRGRG-MS] Answered to an e-mail inquiry.

Folks:

I just answered an e-mail inquiry concerning whither or not a persons inputs are actually getting into the "MRGRG Educate the Congress Tracking System", and why the level of participation in the FAX A REP project is so low. This was/is my response and I decided to pass it along just in case someone else may have the same question.

I would like to remind everyone that you can participate in the FAX A REP project even though you do not have a FAX machine. If you do not have a FAX machine then use the Senators or Representatives Web Form. The FAX is the preferred method, but if you do not have a FAX then use the Web Form.

There is a couple of ways you can be sure that your input(s) get into the Tracking System.

Starting at http://mrgrg-ms.org/educate-the-congress.html (the Tracking System input Web Form), make sure that the box in front of the name(s) you selected has a check mark in it before you move on. If the box is not checked then nothing happens. Then (very important) go all the way to the bottom of the page and
"
Click to enter your checked box(es) into the Tracking System". If you fail to do this then nothing happens (your input is not added to the Tracking System).

After you click the "here" another web page (http://mrgrg-ms.org/cgi-bin/educate-the-congress.cgi) with the current totals will appear.

Near the top of that page you will see this. "
You updated the Tracking System for:" followed by all the names you checked. It might look like this. "You updated the Tracking System for: (Bachus) (Cramer) (Everett)" if you had checked the boxes for Bachus, Cramer, and Everett. If this sequence of events happens then you can be sure that your input has been entered into the Tracking System.

There is one more thing you can do which will provide a warm feeling that your input got into the Tracking System. Goto http://mrgrg-ms.org/cgi-bin/abc.cgi, scroll all the way to the bottom of page (sometimes it is quite long), and look for an entry that has the number of boxes you checked. You can also look to see if the time jives with the time you made your entry.

There is no way to be sure of which entry is your entry, but if you see an entry that has the right number of "
boxes checked" and the time is close to the time you made your entry you can assume it is your entry.

I included this "
Brown Bag Tracking System Activity Monitor" for my own use to make sure that folks were not playing tricks on me and entering very large false numbers. There is a short explanation at the very top of this "Brown Bag Tracking System Activity Monitor" page that explains what the page is all about.

I've tested the Tracking System very thoroughly and I have no reason to believe it isn't working correctly if it's used correctly.

In reference to your inquiry concerning a lack of participation in the "FAX A REP Project" (a continuation of the Brown Bag Project).

In my opinion here is the bottom line... it appears that people are simply burnt out. As a matter of fact I'm burnt out. I feel like a boxer in the last round of a fight where I've been punched senseless and I'm simply throwing wild punches hoping that one will land. If it were not for the fact that we still have a few people that are still fighting the fight and using the Tracking System I would give up. People are tired and I don't know how to get them rejuvenated again.

I'm not sure that we are doing any good anymore, but I know what will happen if we stop reminding our Congress that we are still out here. If we are out of sight then we are out of mind.

May God reward those that are willing to carry on with the fight.
