Subject: Misunderstanding on New Tricare Web site

Some of you are confused concerning this article from Navy Times.
This new Tricare Web site refers to Tricare, Prime, Tricare Exra
and Tricare Standard, and further applies  to military retirees
under the age of 65.  It does not apply to Tricare for Life (TFL) retirees.
There was nothing in the article referring to Tricare for Life nor was
there meant to be.

Thank you all for understanding.

All the best,
Don Harribine

New Tricare Web site debuts this Saturday

As of Nov. 10, everything you ever wanted to know about Tricare will be under one virtual roof.

That’s when the Pentagon plans on unveiling the new health care information resource, http://www.tricare.mil/. The new Web site will combine the information now available at www.tricare.osd.mil  and www.tricareonline.com . It will also serve as a portal to five user-specific content areas for information, whether someone is a Tricare beneficiary or not.

The “My Benefit” section will house the kind of content that is currently available at www.tricare.osd.mil . Beneficiaries will be able to browse their insurance plans, locate providers, find out what’s covered and what’s not and stay up-to-date on regional Tricare news.

Those enrolled in Tricare Prime will be able to go to the “My Heath” section of the new site to make doctor’s appointments on line, check on their personal health information and use the same interactive pharmacy tools now found at www.tricareonline.com .

Beneficiaries are not the only ones who will benefit from the new military health Web portal. Military health professionals who now go to www.ha.osd.mil  will have their own section on the new site, along with information about the military health system. Information for health care providers who accept Tricare will also be housed on the Web site.

It’s safe to go ahead and update your bookmarks now — a visit to www.tricare.mil    today takes you to the same content that’s available on the current Tricare site. After Nov. 10, clicking over to the old www.tricare.osd.mil  will automatically send you to the new Web site.
