A barbecue will be held in the afternoon for veterans. In the evening, a banquet dinner and gift bags will be provided for the veterans by Our Lady of Perpetual Help. A Secret Santa project will be launched that day, with both groups adopting veterans and providing gifts for them.

• Las Vegas — Events have been held all week, including a suit drive, leading up to a Veterans Day parade at 10 a.m. that will feature a U.S. VETS float with veterans, staff and members marching alongside. From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the U.S. VETS dining hall, a post-parade Veterans Day barbecue will be held, serving up karaoke on the side. The Gold Coast Hotel and Casino has offered a free buffet for all veterans, with veteran service centers providing rides to veterans to the local casino for the buffet.

• Washington, D.C. — AmeriCorps members will help serve a luncheon to honor homeless veterans at the Central Union Mission on Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those in the community who want more information about how to help at the Central Union Mission. Members will serve up a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Veterans Day for the formerly homeless vets living in Ignatia House.
