NEWS FROM THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA VETERANS CEMETERY TO BE DEDICATED ON VETERANS DAY 2005

After many years of hard work on the part of veterans, veterans groups, elected officials, and local, state and federal governments, the Northern California Veterans Cemetery is now a reality.  The veterans cemetery will soon be opening its gates to receive our Nation’s heroes, providing them with a place of dignity and honor where they can be laid to rest among their peers.

California Veterans Affairs Secretary Tom Johnson invites all veterans, their families and friends, and the general public to the Northern California Veterans Cemetery Dedication ceremony on Veterans Day, Friday, November 11, 2005 at 10:30 a.m.

The invited keynote speaker is Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The cemetery is located in Shasta County at 11800 Gas Point Road in the town of Igo, approximately 10 miles Southwest of Redding.

Attendees should arrive early as guests will be shuttled from the parking area to the site of the ceremony

The Northern California Veterans Cemetery is the first state-owned and operated veterans cemetery in the Golden State.  It will serve the veteran population throughout the State, but especially those veterans in the eighteen Northern California counties.  The cemetery will provide sufficient burial space for more than twenty years and will be available to any eligible veteran, along with spouses and eligible dependents.

NEWS FROM THE UNITED STATES Department of Veterans Affairs

BEWARE OF PATIENT FRAUD

The United States Department of Veterans Affairs has received several reports of an organization identifying itself as "Patient Care Group" contacting veterans and falsely telling them that Patient Care Group is now dispensing prescriptions for USDVA.

Callers saying they represent the company have asked veterans for a credit card number to ensure the veterans will continue to receive medications.
