Subject: 40 Years Honorable Active Service - General Pace

Dear Friends,

Our Honorable Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Peter Pace, USMC, was forced into early retirement this week.  It seems that some Senators were unhappy that Gen Pace made a public statement recently that homosexuals are morally wrong.

Therefore they vowed to fight his renomination for a second term in office.  He was offered a chance to retire before the announcement, but refused using his normal standard of ethics stating that he would never quit, but if his bosses felt his job was done and no longer needed him, then he would go home.

After some Senators vowed to fight his renomination, rather than allow that to tear our country apart even further, for the Good of the Nation, Gen Pace volunteered to retire at the end of his term in October 2007.

In honor of Gen Pace's flawless service, and outstanding leadership example, the members of American Legion Post 568 have posted a commemoration to Gen Pace on our web site.  We invite all of you to view this story and his picture by visiting our web site at www.tpatch568.us  .

Sincerely,

Lowell J. Mix, Adjutant
