Subject: Fw: 11 Days Remain to Stop the Medicare Cuts in January 2006

Congress resumes business on Monday, 5 December, and wants to adjourn on 16 December. That is 11 days to do something about the the 4.4% cut in Medicare physician’s reimbursements no scheduled for this January 2006 which will accrue to a total of a 26% cut in the next six years.
The Senate has approved legislation which would replace the 4.4% cut with a 1% increase. The House has yet to take action: HR 2356 is still in committee with no action taken.
AMA
research already suggests that 40% of physicians are (or soon will be) refusing
new Medicare patients. The primary reason is low reimbursements.
This must be corrected.
This legislation impacts both Medicare and Tricare physician reimbursment ratios.
If you do not speak up now, do not complain later. Please send the follow letter to the President, your Senators and Representatives.
You can also use the following toll free numbers to call your Senators and Representatives
1-866-272-6622 (provided by EANGUS)
1-866-877-4455 (provided by the AMA)
1-800-833-6354 (provided by MOAA)
Maybe a good plan would be to send an email one day and make a phone call the next day. Keep the pressure on until they pass this legislation.
