Sheldon Toomer, 1961-1965

I was on board the Rammy Sammy in 1961 when we hit the submarine, I was on watch on the fan tail and to my memory we were having ASW operations and the sub was at the wrong depth. We had serious damage to the rudder and screws.

We spent one month in Sasebo, Japan dry docks. It was in the winter and cold. I had to stand cason watch and the wind just froze your you know what. I bought a sweater in Sasebo and the next watch I wore it under my pea coat.

Ask Larry Ikerd he was on board, I'm sure he remembers. Hi Larry miss those days, we love Sasebo, had good liberty over there.
