The last temptation is hope..."
Compromise and collusion
devastatingly characterized the German Christian Church during the Shoah,
of which Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a vocal member. Only he and a very few
others would not compromise. American-trained at Union Theological
Seminary in the days of "the Social Gospel" he was an unlikely initial
candidate for martyrdom for the Lord Jesus Christ. Returning to his
native Germany, he parted company with the German Christian Church,
establishing the evangelical church a small light against a great dark
sky.
Hitler was well aware of Bonhoeffer's activities, threatening and
placing obstacles in his way where he could. During the war, The German
Evangelical Church, which became known as the Confessing Church stood
against government paid pensions for pastors, state-affiliation,
Nazi-control of Sermons and Church activities and Nazi-controlled
seminary training, devising his embattled evangelical seminary.
As Bonhoeffer, with more moderate Germans in the Abwher (the
original german central Intelligence agency) and others sought peace by
making overtures to the Vatican and other world powers to stop the war,
the Gestapo accused Bonhoeffer and several others such as von
Stauffenberg of treasons and plotting Hitler's assasination. Bonhoeffer
was executed by hanging; but only after willing refusing escape in order
to aid other prisoners in dire need. At the end of his life, having
given up all for his stand, he wrote, "The last temptation is hope..."
He was executed at Flossenberg Prison, on April 9,1945. A few weeks
later, Hitler would commit suicide, and the Third Reich would fall. In
addition to his social Gospel leanings and an emphasis on living the
true Gospel, Bonhoeffer at least brought up the question regarding
whether the murder of a person infinitely vile would ever be right in
light of command not to kill.
Giving virtually all that he owned, had and looked forward to [he
was engaged to a young woman when arrested], he stood in utter faith,
although not always Evangelical orthodoxy. His writings include his
questionings of God's ways while maintaining his utter trust: "Who am I?
They mock me, these lonely questions of mine. Whoever I am, Thou knowest,
O God, I am thine."

Gog and Magog - A Big Battle Looms
THE MAGOG IDENTITY
Russia's invasion of Georgia
has caused a uproar in the international community and
further strained Russia's diplomatic relationship with
the West. These events could help pave the way for the
famed battle prophesied in Ezekiel 38 and 39. It is
during this battle, that God will directly intercede to
protect Israel from Magog and its allies:
"And the
word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, set
thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief
prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against
him…And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy

So begins this classic passage in which Gog and Magog,
with their allies, are drawn into an invasion of Israel
only to have the God of Israel use the occasion to show
Himself strong by intervening on behalf of His people
and destroying the invading forces. To understand this
passage, it is essential to first determine who the
players are. Despite the many controversies, these
participants are surprisingly well identified. Just who
are the people represented here by these ancient tribal
names?

A lawyer linked through the Council on American Islamic Relations to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood has been identified as the driving force behind the Occupy Orlando protests that have been staged in Johnson Park, according to a video report from Tom Trento of the Florida Security Council and The United West.
The report from the organization that "educates and activates freedom minded people" to strategize the propagation of the exceptionalism of Western civilization over "the totalitarian choke-hold of Shariah Islam" explains that the same attorney who represented the Islam-bent parents in the famous Rifqa Bary dispute obtained the permit for the Occupy Orlando event and was on scene giving directions.
"You're not going to believe ... the evidence ... that links this movement with a key Muslim individual who's associated with CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood," Trento explains on the video. "This individual has assumed a leadership [role] if [he is] not the leader of this movement in Orlando."
The "Muslim activist lawyer" was identified as Shayan Elahi, who was the losing counsel for the parents of Rifqa Bary in a custody dispute that developed in Florida.
Bary fled the Ohio home of her Muslim parents because she accused them of threatening her after they discovered her conversion to Christianity. She traveled as a teenager on her own to friends in Florida, where eventually she was found.
An extended court case developed because she didn't want to return to the Muslim environment of her parents' home, and although the courts ordered her eventually to return to Ohio, she did not return home, and ultimately gained her independence when she turned 18.
Elahi was counsel for Bary's parents when they were seeking to have her returned home. CAIR also was integral to the parents' strategies regarding their daughter and the various parties cooperated on the effort.
"So, here we have a Muslim attorney who collaborated with the Council on American Islamic Relations in the Rifqa Bary case, the same CAIR that is an unindicted co-conspirator [in a terror financing trial], the same CAIR that is HAMAS, the same HAMAS that was founded by the Muslim Brotherhood," Trento's report said.
"Hmmm ... anyone see any red flags here?"

The presence of Elahi at the events, and his signature on the permit that was issued for the gathering are not the only indications of a radical element behind the "occupations."
Trento noted that the "Occupy Orlando" FaceBook page reads; " ... we plan to use the revolutionary Arab Spring tactic of mass occupation to restore democracy in America."
The group MassResistance reported that old-stream media reports on the Occupy Boston protests, "the flood of communist, anarchist, anti-Israel, and similar literature that permeates ... is simply ignored."
The organization's visit to the scene of the protests found "political ideology of communism, socialism and anarchism, with additions of anti-Israel, pro-Muslim, law-breaking, and other radical advocacy.
"Plus, like so many left-wing venues after a few days, the park they've taken over is now filthy and smells of urine."
In Egypt and in several other countries of North Africa in recent months, uncontrolled demonstrations and protests have led to upheaval, and those factions have been blamed for the overthrow of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and other leaders friendly to the West.
Their replacements have been almost without exception those groups and organizations linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, a faction that has a worldwide Islamic caliphate as one of its goals.
WND left a message at a telephone number listed for Elahi, and a woman said she was not permitted to give out his contact information, but she would take a message. However, the call never was returned.
However, the Florida Independent was able to reach Elahi, who confirmed he was at the protests, "volunteering [his] legal services as just another proud American and a member of the movement."
The report noted he is the affirmative action chair for the Orange County Democratic Party and he said he is a "well known Democratic activist in town who has handled many high profile cases and was an analyst for [the] Casey Anthony case, as well."
Trento, however, reveals in his video how Elahi repeatedly tried to intimidate his crew at the Orlando protests, pointedly calling him a "bigot" and a "racist bigot."
"Anyone think attorney Elahi, who lost the Rifqa Bary case, lost the race for a judgeship, is looking for a place to mark up his first win by co-opting an incoherent movement primarily made up of 'hippies and anarchists' so that he can build a political base for his Islamic goals?" Trento asked.
"We attended the 'Occupy Orlando' event to analyze and understand this movement, but the anger of an insecure Muslim attorney may have provided for us an important component to understand and defeat the cultural jihad of the Muslim Brotherhood, right here in beautiful, sunny Florida," he wrote.
He said, "For those with eyes to see, ears to hear and a wee bit of cranial activity, the jury is in, the facts are known and the words 'Arab Spring' are synonyms for 'Muslim Brotherhood.' Though there is strong evidence for the Ikhwan's involvement initiating the various revolutions in Egypt and the northern Maghreb, it is indisputable that the Brothers are exploiting the incoherent chaos in these countries and taking a leadership role either overtly or through compliant proxies to move toward a Shariah-compliant state. In the spirit of Rahm Emanuel, the Muslim Brotherhood will never lot a good crisis go to waste."
Tom Tillison from the Florida Political Press also reported what Trento discovered: that the permit for the event was signed by Elahi.

Tillison also raised the issue of the city's concessions for the group, noting that while the permit was supposed to be submitted three days in advance, it actually was submitted and approved for a protest within 24 hours. And the application states the time was supposed to be from 8 a.m. until 8:59 p.m. on Oct. 15, yet the group remains camped there days later.
"Does this mean that the protesters are in violation of city ordinances government the use of city owned park facilities?"
Finally, he wondered about the extended stay, since there are no restrooms on site.

A board of county commissioners in North Carolina is asking the Supreme Court for help: Its members don't believe they should have to forbid volunteers from mentioning the name of Jesus in prayers offered before their meetings.
But the American Civil Liberties Union and Americans United for Separation of Church and State are standing by their victory in a U.S. circuit court decision that states even "a solitary reference to Jesus Christ" in invocations before the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners' meetings could do "violence to the pluralistic and inclusive values that are a defining feature of American public life."
Furthermore, wrote Judge James Harvie Wilkinson III in the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals majority opinion, legislative invocations offered in Jesus' name are inherently "sectarian" and thus should be censored lest they make some attendees feel "uncomfortable, unwelcome and unwilling to participate in … public affairs."
But the board disagrees, and with the help of the Alliance Defense Fund is asking the Supreme Court to trump Wilkinson's ruling.
"America's founders opened public meetings with prayer; this county simply wants to allow its citizens to do the same," said ADF Senior Counsel David Cortman in a statement. "We trust the U.S. Supreme Court will want to review this case because of the long history in America of offering prayers before public meetings. Public officials shouldn't be coerced into censoring the prayers of those invited to offer them just because secularist groups don't like people praying according to their own conscience."
For years, the board has extended an open invitation to religious leaders from the community to volunteer a prayer before its twice-monthly meetings, asking only that the invocations "not be exploited as an effort to convert others … nor to disparage any faith or belief."
But a pair of local citizens, Janet Joyner and Constance Lynn Blackmon, attended the meetings regularly and were bothered by the frequent mentions of Jesus in the prayers. After the pair sat through yet another Christian prayer, this one including references to "the Cross of Calvary" and the "Virgin Birth," they sued the board of commissioners with help from the ACLU and Americans United lawyers.
After a pair of appeals, Judge Wilkinson handed down a majority opinion Americans United called "a major win for church-state separation."
"While legislative prayer has the capacity to solemnize the weighty task of governance … it also has the potential to generate sectarian strife," Wilkinson reasoned. "Such conflict rends communities and does violence to the pluralistic and inclusive values that are a defining feature of American public life."
"It is not enough to contend, as the dissent does, that the policy was 'neutral and proactively inclusive,'" the ruling continues. "Take-all-comers policies that do not discourage sectarian prayer will inevitably favor the majoritarian faith in the community at the expense of religious minorities living therein. This effect creates real burdens on citizens – particularly those who attend meetings only sporadically – for they will have to listen to someone professing religious beliefs that they do not themselves hold."
The Forsyth Board's invocations, the court determined, "made at least two citizens feel uncomfortable, unwelcome and unwilling to participate in the public affairs of Forsyth County. To be sure, citizens in a robust democracy should expect to hear all manner of things that they do not like. But the First Amendment teaches that religious faith stands on a different footing from other forms of speech and observance."
Judge Wilkinson concluded, "In order to survive constitutional scrutiny, invocations must consist of the type of nonsectarian prayers that solemnize the legislative task and seek to unite rather than divide."
But does a volunteer's prayer that merely mentions Jesus necessarily "divide"?
The court referenced one of its prior decisions in which it ruled a town council's prayers "clearly 'advance[d]' one faith, Christianity, in preference to others … because they ended with a solitary reference to Jesus Christ."
The ruling further projected, "As our nation becomes more diverse, so also will our faiths. To plant sectarian prayers at the heart of local government is a prescription for religious discord. … In their public pursuits, Americans respect the manifold beliefs of fellow citizens by abjuring sectarianism and embracing more inclusive themes."
Judge Paul Niemeyer, however, dissented from the two majority judges in the three-judge panel that heard the case, arguing that the court is, in application, "regulating" public prayer.
"When offering legislative prayers in which the Divine Being is publicly asked for guidance and a blessing of the legislators, religious leaders will hereafter have to refrain from referencing the Divine Being with the inspired or revealed name," Niemeyer wrote. "The majority has dared to step in and regulate the language of prayer – the sacred dialogue between humankind and God. Such a decision treats prayer agnostically; reduces it to civil nicety.
"Most frightfully," he continued, "it will require secular legislative and judicial bodies to evaluate and parse particular religious prayers."
Alliance Defense Fund Senior Counsel Brett Harvey agrees.
"The decision is troubling on many fronts," Harvey wrote in a blog post. "It is out of step with many other federal courts that have considered the validity of public invocations, including the United States Supreme Court. It ignores the religious heritage and history of our nation. But more troubling is the impact of the court's decision on prayer itself. ... It requires the government to censor private prayers and engage in comparative theology."
He concludes, "The Constitution prohibits the government from deciding which religious words are acceptable and which are not, even if the goal is to make people feel more comfortable."

A pro-life group in
Washington has launched a campaign to oppose what it calls president-elect
Barack Obama's planned $1.5 billion "bailout" of the abortion industry.
Last week, the Obama-Biden Transition Project posted a report on its website that
calls for dramatic policy reversals on abortion, including $1 billion in
taxpayer money for international abortion groups like Planned Parenthood.
The report, titled "Advancing Reproductive Rights and Health in a New
Administration," also calls for a 133-percent increase in funding for the
Title X program, which funds Planned Parenthood clinics across the country.

When Big Government took over the
nation's public schools, the reality of our nation having thoughtful
Christian Founding Fathers didn't play well for anti-religious
zealots who wanted to move our educational system beyond Christian
influence. They needed to secularize Washington, Adams, Madison, and
the rest of the period's most influential leaders.
Years later, students enrolled in public schools are now being
taught that the Founders were thoroughgoing secularists, "practical"
men that didn't really want any mention of God in the public square!

The situation in our public schools has devolved to the point that
it is difficult to believe what is taking place. For instance, in a
middle school art class in California's Santa Rita School District,
a student was told not to draw Old Glory because it was "offensive."
Another student in the same art class drew a picture of President
Obama and was praised by the teacher.
In a well-known example of agenda-driven educators using the public
schools for blatant indoctrination, a Burlington, New Jersey,
elementary school videotaped students singing songs with campaign
slogans and praise for "Barack Hussein Obama," repeatedly chanting
the president's name and celebrating his "great plans" to "make this
country's economy No. 1 again."
Sadly, Liberty Counsel has represented many school employees who
have been wrongfully accused of "crimes" against illegal
prohibitions of their religious freedom. And increasingly, we are

15, the Senate Armed Services Committee had unanimously approved
S. 1867, the National Defense Authorization Act, which includes
a provision to repeal Article 125 of the Uniform Code of
Military Justice (UCMJ). Article
125 of the UCMJ makes it illegal to engage in both sodomy with
humans and sex with animals. It
states: "(a) Any person subject to this chapter who engages in
unnatural carnal copulation with another person of the same or
opposite sex or with an animal is guilty of sodomy. Penetration,
however slight, is sufficient to complete the offense. (b) Any
person found guilty of sodomy shall be punished as a
court-martial may direct.” Family
Research Council President Tony Perkins said the effort to
remove sodomy from military law stems from liberal Senate
Democrats' and President Obama’s support for removing the
military’s Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy. “It’s all
about using the military to advance this administration’s
radical social agenda,” Perkins told CNSNews.com. “Not only did
they overturn Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, but they had another
problem, and that is, under military law sodomy is illegal, just
as adultery is illegal, so they had to remove that prohibition
against sodomy..... The Obama administration
has announced it intends to make the United States the global sex cop, with
plans to try to intervene in the workings of other nations where homosexuality
is not promoted as well as plans to create special provisions for homosexuals
and those with other lifestyle choices to gain special admittance to the U.S.
Among the provisions is a
specific call for the U.S. government to "enhance" its work to provide services
to "LGBT refugees and asylum seekers." "Who knew when Reagan was
talking about being a shining city on the hill the city would turn out to be
Sodom," said Peter LaBarbera, president of
Americans for Truth, an Illinois organization active in revealing the truth
of homosexuality.
The White House statement is called the Presidential Memorandum –
International Initiatives to Advance the Human Rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual,
and Transgender Persons. In the introduction to
the multi-section document, Obama explains that he's already instructed agencies
"engaged abroad" to start "taking action to promote the fundamental human rights
of LGBT persons everywhere." Specifically, his plan is
to try to intervene in other nation's where the homosexual lifestyle choice is
at risk. That would happen through U.S. government's agencies that would
"strengthen existing efforts to effectively combat the criminalization by
foreign governments of LGBT status or conduct and to expand efforts to combat
discrimination, homophobia, and intolerance on the basis of LGBT status or

eHarmony, the Christian-based dating
service that attracts millions of singles and inspires hundreds of marriages
every day, has been forced to launch a dating service for homosexuals. The New
Jersey Attorney General’s office initiated the action against eHarmony based on
a complaint from an openly gay man who filed a “discrimination” complaint.

In a dramatic reversal, Attorney General Jerry Brown filed a legal brief
saying the measure that amended the California Constitution to limit
marriage to a man and a woman is itself unconstitutional because it deprives
a minority group of a fundamental right. Earlier, Brown had said he would
defend the ballot measure against legal challenges from gay marriage
supporters.
But Brown said he reached a different conclusion "upon further reflection
and a deeper probing into all the aspects of our Constitution.
"It became evident that the Article 1 provision guaranteeing basic liberty,
which includes the right to marry, took precedence over the initiative," he
said in an interview Friday night. "Based on my duty to defend the law and
the entire Constitution, I concluded the court should protect the right to
marry even in the face of the 52 percent vote."
Brown, who served as governor from 1975 to 1983, is considering seeking the
office again in 2010. After California voters passed Proposition 8 on Nov.
4, Brown said he personally voted against it but would fight to uphold it as
the state's top lawyer...

matter of constitutional law: When it's a case of religious liberty vs. sexual
liberty, sexual liberty wins.
In the case of Benitez v. North Coast Women's Care Medical Group, the California
Supreme Court asked: "Do the rights of religious freedom and free speech, as
guaranteed in both the federal and the California constitutions, exempt a
medical clinic's physicians from complying with the California Unruh Civil
Rights Act's prohibition against discrimination based on a person's sexual
orientation?"
And the majority flatly ruled: "Our answer is no."
This is unfortunate, since religious liberty is actually guaranteed in the U.S.
Constitution. Moreover, the sexual liberty at stake in this case was not the
right of an individual to live as one chooses -- to be free from bullying, fear
and harassment. It was the right to be protected by the government from the
knowledge that one of your fellow citizens disagrees with some of the choices
you have made....

Episcopal bishop will offer a prayer at
the Lincoln Memorial at an inaugural
event for President-elect Barack Obama.
The selection of New Hampshire Episcopal
Bishop Gene Robinson for Sunday's event
follows weeks of criticism from
gay-rights groups over Obama's decision
to have the Rev. Rick Warren give the
invocation at his Jan. 20 inauguration.
Warren backed the ban on same-sex
marriage that passed in his home state
of California on the November ballot.
Robinson said last month the choice of
Warren was like a slap in the face. In
an interview with the Concord Monitor,
he said he doesn't believe Obama invited
him in response to the Warren criticism
but said his inclusion won't go
unnoticed by the gay and lesbian
community. "It's important for any
minority to see themselves represented
in some way," Robinson told the
newspaper for a story in Monday's
editions. "Whether it be a racial
minority, an ethnic minority, or in our
case, a sexual minority. Just seeing
someone like you up front matters."
Clark Stevens, a spokesman for the
inaugural committee, said Robinson was
invited because he had offered his
advice to Obama during the campaign and
because of his church work. When asked
whether Robinson was included to calm
the Warren complaints, he said Robinson
is "an important figure in the religious

will attend the event, and Obama is

Ore. - Most states don't recognize
same-sex "marriage" -- but now Hallmark
does. The nation's largest greeting card
company is rolling out homosexual
wedding cards -- featuring two tuxedos,
overlapping hearts or intertwined
flowers, with best wishes inside. "Two
hearts. One promise," one says.
Hallmark added the cards after
California joined Massachusetts as the
only U.S. states with legal homosexual
marriage. A handful of other states have
recognized same-sex civil unions. The
language inside the cards is neutral,
with no mention of wedding or marriage,
making them also suitable for a
commitment ceremony. Hallmark says the
move is a response to consumer demand,
not any political pressure. "It's our
goal to be as relevant as possible to as
many people as we can," Hallmark
spokeswoman Sarah Gronberg Kolell said.
Hallmark's largest competitor, American
Greetings Corp., has no plans to enter
the market, saying its current offerings
are general enough to speak to a lot of
different relationships.
Hallmark started offering "coming out"
cards last year, and the four designs of
same-sex marriage cards are being
gradually released this summer and will
be widely available by next year. No

LAKE CITY - The Mormon church on Friday blamed opponents of
California's homosexual marriage ban for sending hoax mailings
containing white powder to temples, while a group that also supported
the measure condemned "acts of domestic terrorism against our
supporters."
The letters were sent to the Salt Lake City headquarters of the church,
where powder spilled on a mail clerk's hand, and to a temple in Los
Angeles. Both packages tested nontoxic, the FBI said Friday.
The two temples were sites of recent protests against the church's
support for a California ballot initiative that superseded a court
decision allowing gay marriage. The Mormon church, whose official name
is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said it is stepping
up security.
"We call upon those who have honest disagreements on this issue to urge
restraint upon the extreme actions of a few," church President Thomas S.
Monson said in a statement....

The court found that the FCC deviated from its nearly 30-year practice of
fining indecent broadcast programming only when it was so "pervasive as to

The Democratic Party's platform for 2008, which was approved earlier this week
in Denver, is a marked departure that stands in stark contrast to the proposal
that will be put forth by the Republican Party. At 94 pages, the Democrats'
platform is more than twice as long as their 2004 version. Buried deep within it
are planks that will take our country in the wrong direction, including plans to
reverse the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, increase funding for the
National Endowment for the Arts, and repeal the Defense of Marriage Act.

Barack Obama's cousin in Kenya is Raila Odinga, who among other things
advocates Sharia (Islamic) Law. After he lost Kenya's presidential election
in 2007, his supporters went on a violent rampage killing hundreds of people
across Kenya, some of whom were Christians taking refuge inside a church.
Odinga's supporters surrounded the church and burned it to the ground,
burning the people alive who were inside. Obama campaigned for Odinga when
he visited Kenya in 2006.
This is no
surprise and yet it makes my stomach turn.
We must get the word out friends to more and
more people. Education is enlightening and
will be our only saving grace!
Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit
said he had a one-on-one meeting with Obama,
in which President Obama told him that
he was still a Muslim, the son of a
Muslim father, the stepson of Muslim
stepfather, that his half brothers in Kenya
are Muslims, and that he was sympathetic
towards the Muslim
agenda.
