Q: Did God make a mistake in creating Lucifer?
A: May I say that this question borders on blasphemy.
But because it is asked in sincerity, I will attempt to answer it in sincerity.
God has a plan and purpose for this world. That plan and purpose for this little earth and humanity includes angels that are creatures who apparently are not inhabitants of this earth, at least not since humanity has been on the earth. These creatures were created perfect. Lucifer was created perfect.
But he was given an opportunity to make a choice of good or evil. That was a choice also granted to man. The sin of man and of the highest creature, Lucifer, was that they disobeyed God. They were created perfect, but they disobeyed God because they had a perfect free will – a will in which God would not bring to bear His side of the question at all. Therefore both man and Lucifer made that wrong choice.
But that hasn’t anything in the world to do with God making a mistake. It’s in the plan and purpose of God that the Lord Jesus Christ was the Lamb created from the beginning, and the very fact that you were in the mind of God from the very beginning is part of His plan. And He’s working out His plan.
Since it’s in an infinite plan by an infinite God and we’re very finite creatures, we have only one prerogative. There is only one way in which we can go, and that is to go God’s way. To accept what He has to say. If we’re not willing to do that, then there’s not but one alternative for us.
The same judgment that was against Lucifer will be against those who reject God’s plan. The cross of Christ is part of the plan of God. It would be the only way that He could save sinners, and He did it in order to show forth His power, glory, and love. All of these things are infinite.
Anything He does He does in an infinite degree.
You can’t bring down into human thinking and philosophy and terminology an infinite God. Let Him stay on the throne and run it His way. He doesn’t make mistakes.
You and I make a big mistake when we suggest that God might have made one.
