This is not meant to initiate a debate about whether the bill is stupid, ridiculous, unconstitutional or or the merits of its possibly passing. This is simply about what will happen if it does pass, and it likely will.

AB 2062, which is working its way through the legislature, could spell an end to firearms training as we know it in California.

If you cannot purchase more than 50 rounds per month of handgun ammunition and cannot transfer, even between spouses anything over the 50 round per month limit, you would need to bunker ammo for several months to years in order to participate in a weekend class.

Example: Roger Phillips Point Shooting Progressions – 1500/2000 rounds, would take three years of saving!

If the bill is signed into law, and indications are that it will be, it will take effect July 1, 2009. There are still plenty of training opportunities until then but don’t count on them being there after that date. If our instructors don't have the ammo to teach, and the students don't have the ammo to train, why would we bother with such stupid and oppressive laws when Nevada and Arizona are so close. If this law passes, we will not be holding any more classes in California.

As with the potential of a renewed AWB and magazine capacity restrictions, it would be prudent for Californians to train while the training is still possible.

And while we are at it...we call on all gun dealers and gun makers, and ammo makers to immediately stop selling anything to California Government Agencies.  What is good for the goose is good for the Gander.  Civilians can't buy ammo in California?  Great...neither can the police.  Civilians can't buy a certain gun there?  Great..neither can the cops.  If everyone in the gun industry did what Barret and Suarez have done, the laws in California would change or the cops there would be carrying rocks in their holsters.
