ConservativeHQ.com is now open…
…your headquarters for re-launching the Conservative Movement,
and wrenching control of our party from Big Government Republicans
Richard Viguerie’s new Web site will take on the ‘RINOs’
Dear Conservative:
It’s time to grab your torch and your pitchfork and join the grassroots conservative rebellion.
I’m willing to bet that, like me, you’re frustrated and demoralized over the direction of American politics. John McCain, who seems to have disdain for conservatives and conservative ideas, is the likely Republican nominee. The Bush administration has spent the past seven years expanding Big Government and now, in its waning days, seems to have no interest in promoting a conservative agenda. Republicans lost their majority in Congress after they became part of the corrupt culture of Washington and abandoned their ideals. And they haven’t learned their lesson: Just the other day, they rewarded a proponent of ‘pork barrel’ earmarks with a seat on the powerful House Appropriations Committee.
Some conservatives feel like throwing their hands up in disgust, and taking a vacation from politics until 2008 is in the history books. But there is an alternative:
Join with us. Rebuild the conservative movement. Take the Republican Party back from the country club/Big Business Republican Establishment – those we call RINOs (Republicans In Name Only). Help spark a grassroots conservative rebellion by visiting and becoming a member of ConservativeHQ.com
ConservativeHQ.com will use interactive features to give you and other grassroots conservatives a way to make your voices heard. It will highlight news and commentary from and about the conservative movement, and especially from those who refuse to “get along by going along” with the GOP bosses.
Among the features at ConservativeHQ.com:
► Petitions, such as one that calls on President Bush to eliminate earmarks immediately, rather than gradually if at all.
►Polls, such as those asking whether John McCain is a true conservative and whether conservatives plan to vote for him in November.
►Forums, where ConservativeHQ.com members can voice their opinions on the best way to take on and defeat the Big Government Republicans.
►Blogs, where conservatives can engage in a discussion with Richard A. Viguerie and the site’s editors. Within a few days after launch, readers will be able to have their own blogs carried on the site.
►The Conservative Calendar, a nationwide bulletin board of conservative activities.
►Conservatism 101, which provides history and background on the conservative movement and will help visitors answer the question: Am I a conservative or not?
…and, coming soon, more tools to rebuild the conservative movement that elected Ronald Reagan in 1980 and the Republican Congress in 1994.
Imagine: Some day in the not-too-distant future we could have a conservative in the White House and conservatives in the majority in Congress and at the state and local levels of government. We could begin an assault on the leftwing bias that excludes conservatives and their ideas from most college faculties, from most of the news media, and from so-called “mainstream” culture. We could create a government and a society that treats people as individuals, not just as cogs in some machine, and that respects people’s intelligence and judgment rather than treating them as children who must be protected from themselves.
It’s all in our hands. We can complain about the current, sorry state of affairs, or we can begin today to write the history that is yet to come.
Please join me in making ConservativeHQ.com the place where, it will be written, the grassroots conservative rebellion began.
Sincerely,
Richard A. Viguerie

Richard Viguerie’s development of grassroots organizing methods such as direct mail is legendary. Thanks to Viguerie, it is possible for campaigns and causes to rely on millions of small contributors rather than a few fatcats. That’s why John F. Kennedy Jr.’s political magazine, George, called the founding of Viguerie’s organization one of the “defining political moments of the 20th Century.”
Viguerie used these techniques to help organize the conservative movement, from the 1960s forward, and to change the course of U.S. political history. Barry Goldwater’s 1964 communications director, Lee Edwards, wrote in The Washington Times that Viguerie was one of 13 “conservatives of the [20th] century.” During this year’s coverage of the Iowa caucuses, MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann called Viguerie “one of either the greats or the demons, depending on your point of view of the conservative movement.” Alexander Cockburn of The Nation recently called him “one of the creators of the modern conservative movement.” Last week, the Copley News Service called him an “icon of the Republican right.”
He is the author of several books, including Conservatives Betrayed: How George W. Bush and Other Big Government Republicans Hijacked the Conservative Cause.
