As the U.S. Senate sells America's security and sovereignty for a mess of pottage, Minuteman Chris Simcox and the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps are taking another bold step to STOP THE FLOW of drugs, human trafficking and illegal aliens crossing the border into the United States-and the Minutemen have begun building a security fence on our embattled southwestern border! 

After 9/11, when Simcox observed large groups of illegal aliens moving freely through American national parks that border Mexico, he reported it to federal park rangers.  Their response: Those are just illegal aliens from Mexico-don't bother them and they will not bother you.  With the smoke and ash from foreign attack upon the twin towers still covering New York City, Chris saw clearly that our borders must be secured.

The Senate votes for unlimited amnesty, the Congress talks about authorizing a security fence between Mexico and the United States, President Bush pretends it could happen on his watch-the Minutemen are building it!  Chris Simcox and the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) are taking action and once again doing the job our federal government will not do.  Americans who understand the urgency are swamping our phone lines and web site asking: What can I do to help right NOW?

This fence proposal is not a new idea. Colin Hanna at We Need A Fence has proposed a superlative design, and now the Minutemen of MCDC are making it a reality. At present, six private land owners are partnering with the Minutemen to commence construction of border fencing on their land. Surveillance cameras on the fencing will be monitored via computer by registered Minutemen across the country. We have chosen a security design that is based on the Israeli fences in Gaza and on the West Bank that have reduced terrorist attacks there by 95% or more. In order to be effective, a fence should not be easy to compromise by climbing over it with a ladder, cutting through it with wire cutters, ramming it with a vehicle, or tunneling under it undetected. No fence can be a 100% impenetrable barrier-but a good design will be time-consuming enough to breach that Border Patrol agents can be alerted and arrive at a point of attempted incursion before any illicit crossing can be completed.

The groundbreaking begins in Arizona this Memorial Day weekend!!!!  And a great Minuteman patriot and U.S. military veteran, Jim Campbell of Arizona, has made the first six-figure contribution to this citizen initiative!!

MCDC will continue to man our posts at the border and watch and report as the Minuteman Border Fence is built.  No one operation alone will secure the border.  MCDC has shown that illegal aliens can be stopped from jumping our border simply by dedicated volunteers sitting in lawn chairs for 30 days at a time. 

A Minuteman Border Fence will help protect all of America 365 days a year.

The Minuteman volunteers of MCDC continue to prove their character and patriotism by upholding the highest ethical standards, and by adhering to rigorous Standard Operating Procedures that protect every human person at our chaotic and violent borders.  MCDC volunteers have shown that the border can be secured, while still demonstrating compassion for the humanity of those from around the world who have felt compelled to leave their homes and break our laws in desperate pursuit of a better life.
