Well, the decision finally came down from SCOTUS affirming what we all knew. Specifically, that the Second Ammendment to the Constitution is in fact an individual right. The actual wording for the decision is up at Warrior Talk. All americans should read it as it is a monumental step.

Some points.

There have been talks about how narrow the decision was. Good heavens, we only won by one vote! The lesson for us there is to illustrate two things. One, how divided the nation is on these issues. Politicians like to ignore this division, but it is there. And it is there on non-compromisable issues. The freedom to own and carry guns is only one of them. We are reaching a point where we simply not only cannot, but choose to not, get along. Two, the judges voting against this were almost all appointed by democrat presidents. How do you think this would have gone with judges appointed by John "Flip Flop" Kerry, or Al "The Sky is on Fire" Gore??

Let's remember that in November. What would an Obama America look like?

The text of the decision is somewhat narrow and that has concerned some folks. Remember that this was not a case directly about the Second Ammendment, but rather about one guy living in DC wanting to buy a gun to keep at home. So this case doesn't kick down the door to invalitate gun laws based on constitutional issues, but it does unlock that door. The rest will be up to those who want to make an issue about a given law.

I think we have the potential to invalidate many state and local laws that now are open to attack as they do in fact violate our constitutional rights. Secondly, I think that several Federal Laws are also open to attack due to Heller. Namely the so called Gun Control Act of 1968, which is a clear and blatant violation of the rights of Americans, as well as older laws such as the National Firearms Act of 1934 (dealing with machineguns and such).

As I understand it, the NRA is already taking the offensive. All I can say is FINALLY!!! If they take an aggressive stance and begin taking ground, I will support them 100% in any way I can.

Second, we have to keep in mind that this happened under GW Bush. For that matter, so did the AWB sunset. Like him or dislike him, I cannot think of any other president under whom this would have happened. Certainly not Clinton, and certainly not Obama. Lets bear that in mind in November.

It is notable that this decision coincided with the issuing of "Economic Stimulus" checks. Perhaps more aptly named "Ashamed Of Stealing So Much From You" checks, but I digress. I quickly used mine to buy ammo for my Kalashnikov Rifles, as well as a new Glock Pistol.

June 26th will now be remembered as FREEDOM DAY in our organization, and the faithful should celebrate it by buying something gun related, whether a bullet, or a Ma Deuce machinegun.
